WHAT IS SIL JEON DO?
MEET MASTER CHANG
Developed by Master Chang, Sil Jeon Do (SJD) is a Martial Arts system that combines seven types of Martial Arts (Tae Kwon Do, Hap Ki Do, Kick boxing, Judo, Korean Wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, Keum Do). This different fighting approach provides self-defending techniques that can better be used in real-life situations.
Throughout the years, Master Chang has learned and studied all different kinds of martial arts. Eventually, he created Sil Jeon Do to combine all techniques he found useful in real-life fighting and self-defending. Shown on the right are a few of the sketches that Master Chang created, displaying a few techniques found in kickboxing and Korean wrestling.
Master Chang first started learning Martial Arts since five years old and has been teaching for over 30 years. Before he became an instructor, he has practiced Hapkido, Korean Wrestling, Judo, Taekwondo, Kickboxing, and Brazilian Jui-Jitsu. During his time serving the Korean military, he trained soldiers in physical combat and defensive martial arts while also winning 1st place in the Taekwondo competition. He has also won the title of Lightweight Champion in 1981 and Welterweight Champion in 1984 at a Muay Thai Kickboxing competition in Korea.
He opened his first Martial Arts school in 1995 while also serving as a Taekwondo instructor at the New Jersey Korean School in Tenafly. He later opened United Sil Jeon Do in 2009 and has served as Grand Master since.
